Reflect on the Human Ingenuity AOI-Consequences of change
Having described the short term and immediate changes, I will now look at the consequences that arose from the changes. Overall, the revolution seemed like a series of bad decisions on the short term and indeed they were but in the end they sparked a series of reforms which allowed China to become the global power it is today.
EconomicDespite Mao's attempt at a great leap forward, it became very clear that it backfired and China was dragged into a hell hole united instead of into a hell hole individually and it served as a placebo effect which ultimately kept its people happy and all in all it became national poverty rather than the national wealth that Mao envisioned. However, this was only a short-term issue and only lasted throughout Mao's lifetime. This consequently lead to rapid reforms after Mao's death thanks to Deng Xiao Ping's national pride and great leadership and it in turn sparked capitalism as Deng Xiao Ping looked at wealth disparity as an incentive to drag China out of hellhole. This system was very effective and runs until this day making China a communist country with a capitalist system. This reform runs strong till this day and as a result has slowly molded and shaped China into the world power that it has become. In short Mao unified the people and Deng carried out his wishes but not accordingly to make China flourish.
CultureDeng Xiao Ping ultimately wanted China to flourish at all costs so he overrode Mao's heavy sense of nationalism with his own. Instead of being somewhat patriotic he believed that he could learn a lot from western influences, precisely what he did. In turn China became westernised for the better despite the initial backlash. It was gradually accepted by the people and even the most hardcore of nationalists as they too realised it was for the better of China. As a result China benefitted from the best of both worlds:
-Western culture e.g Lifestyle, Business practice -Chinese heritage such as food, lifestyle, core values |
EducationMao's ideologies revolved heavily around the idea of the peasantry or the working class being the core of the revolution and the core of its people. As a result the ones with a higher social status were sent off to peasant camps or labour camps where they would carry out the tasks of the peasants to get a first hand understanding of their status. However, this removal of educated beings meant that the country was put at an economic standstill due to there not being any people with valid understanding running the country, apart from the CPC. This resulted in peasants who had no prior knowledge in their set field to have to step up to run the country and it resulted in the economic disaster mentioned above. Luckily when Deng Xiao Ping came into power, this lack of proper education caused by Mao sparked proper education reforms and once again this consequently allows some countries in China to excel in their education systems

Unfortunately, despite Deng's series of reforms they were not flawless. Because of his capitalist ideals it caused China to have an over-reliance and very high regard for money, and without any educated beings many of the peasants who were never really rich became to flourish due to corruption. This slowly grew until it overflowed and thus China today despite modernized views still faces corruption charges even up to the status of politicians.
